Following
on from the great successes of Not for Boys!
for the last 4 years, Sale United FC will
again be running a coaching event for girls
only this year.
Sale
United was the first club in the area to
establish a girls only team some 4 years
ago, (click
here to see our brief history) and are
committed to developing girls football in
the local community.
We
are holding the Not For Boys event
again this year specifically to provide
an opportunity for girls who have
never played football before to have
a go and see if they like it.
Also, for those who have already played
football, whether that be in the park
with the boys or as part of an organised
school team, there is an opportunity
to develop their skills under the
guidance of FA qualified coaches.
The
event is open to all girls in school
years 4 to 10.
Every
Thursday 14th June to 28th June
(6.30 - 8.00)
Every
Sunday from 17th June - 1st July June
(10.30 - 12.00)
There
may be an additional session at Manchester
Uniteds training ground at Carrington
- date TBC (on a Friday 5.00pm - 6.30pm)
All
at Sale United’s Crossford Bridge
ground except the Manchester Uniteds Carrington
session (you must have attended a previous
session to be eligible for this one).
Just
turn up (except Man United session) with
your boots/trainers and Shinpads
(these
are essential)
As
part of the event we hope that new
players enjoy the football enough
to want to play in one of the teams
that Sale United will be running next
season at Under 10’s through to Under
16's.

Here
are some Frequently asked questions
that might help you decide if this
is for you.
Do
I need to be a good footballer to
come to training?
No.
If you want to play football you can.
We welcome players of all abilities
and have players at the club who are
complete beginners as well as some
who have played for Manchester United.
Do I need to
commit to attending all the sessions?
No.
We understand that you may have other
commitments so just come along when
you can. Obviously you will get most
benefit from the coaching if you can
attend all of the sessions as the
coaching will be structured over the
3 weeks.
How much will
I have to pay?
Nothing.
The coaching is completely free of
charge.
Are the coaches
qualified?
Yes.
All sessions for all groups will be
run by coaches qualified to FA Level
1 or Level 2.
Am I obliged
to join Sale United to take part.
No.
These sessions are just to give you
the opportunity to try out football
or improve your skills if you are
already a player. We have found that
lots of girls do decide to join the
club as they want to carry on playing
and be part of a team but that is
up to you. You will need to fill in
a temporary registration form to provide
us with essential details like emergency
contact numbers etc.
Do I need any
special sports gear?
Yes
– you will need shin pads. Other
than that your normal school PE kit
is fine. Football boots are ideal
but trainers are also fine but don’t
wear your best ones as they may get
muddy. Be aware that, if the weather
is good to us, the pitches will be
dry and hard so boots with long studs
are not a good idea and trainers would
actually be better.
Do I need to
bring anything else?
Bring
along a drink (not fizzy). You will
also need to bring your own enthusiasm.

you still have any questions email

We
would appreciate your help in promoting
this event with your friends at school,
brownies or any other club you attend.
