Few
would argue that David Beckham is one of the best
players in the world. So does he need to train?
Does he need coaching? Does he need to practice?
The answer is obviously YES! But what for?
To be a Better Player
Regardless of how good your technique is, there
is always room for improvement. And especially
if we haven't mastered all of the techniques yet
then the training ground is the place to be. You
will always learn far more in a training session
than you do in a match
To Practice
Even when you have mastered a technique, you
need to practice it continually to remain competent.
We all know that David Beckham can take free kicks.
But he still practices free kicks every day in
training. That way it becomes a natural thing
to him, and he doesn't need to think much about
it. That's where you need to aim to be. In training,
you need to practice all of the techniques you
know as well as learning new ones.
To
Keep Fit
Fitness is a very important part of playing football.
You can't expect to just turn up on a Saturday
and play for half an hour if that's all the exercise
you get all week. Training helps to improve your
fitness, your speed, your strength and your stamina.
To
Build a Team Spirit
You need to know the people that you are playing
with. You need to know how they play, what their
strengths and weakness are and how they think.
However, we will keep it simple to start with
and be happy if everyone knows everyone else's
name! Being together each week on the training
field allows you to meet your team mates and enables
a team spirit to develop.
So Training is Important!
For us to develop as a team and as individual
players, it is very important that you come to
training whenever possible.
